Rooftop solar power accounts for 3.4 GW, of which 70% is industrial or commercial.[14] In addition to its large-scale grid-connected solar PV initiative, India is developing off-grid solar power for local energy needs.[15] Solar products have increasingly helped to meet rural needs; by the end of 2015 just under one million solar lanterns were sold in the country, reducing the need for kerosene.[16] That year, 118,700 solar home lighting systems were installed and 46,655 solar street lighting installations were provided under a national program;[16] just over 1.4 million solar cookers were distributed in India.[16] In January 2019, Indian Railways announced the plan to install 4 GW capacity along its tracks.[17]

Less than $0.04/kWh.
And solar will not get more expensive.
Imagine solar powered steel and aluminum factories. India may get rich.

The western power generation market is up for a gigantic Kodak moment.
