Not a movie for television. I saw it on Cinerama screens* 6 times when it came out. I took my parents and grandmother. (I think it was lost on her.  )
The stargate sequence was groundbreaking for it's time but hasn't aged well. It was before fractals. Or CGI.
*new at that time.
