I've always wondered why those old Fords show up at Bonneville every year for decades.
My son wouldn't even drive his STR-8 onto the flats. I sprayed the underside with WD-40 beforehand, drove into town each night to use a coin-op car wash on the underside, and pressure washed twice as soon as I got home. Then when it went out of control on some black ice a year or two later, I found out the steering box was binding. I don't actually know what it was like before the trip.
Salt water is an electrolyte.
