The AEV upthread shows that the build quality and performance justifies the price. I'm in for the original $12.9K price point and the Minimum Viable Product. Autonomy and renting it out to anyone with a smartphone don't interest me. I'd use a [jail-broken] iPod Touch for the sound system.

Yes, first time poster. In my defense, it was a long read. I'm a little surprised you didn't just go all in. I would imagine with the fewer parts and simplicity you wouldn't have to fix problems that pop up constantly like on older cars.
