Really now the only reason to have a gasoline only car is for log trips or you live some chaotic life style that involves a lot of moving around and you don't know if next year you will be able to find place that will allow you to charge you car at home.
For short distances where you don't exceed 70mph there just isn't any need to burn gas.

As long as you have a car with active thermal management on the battery and a battery capacity equal to or greater than 40kwh that would pretty much work for most people.

The people who rent my old house asked about getting an electric car. I showed them the 2 places where I had been charging my leaf from. A 6-15 receptacle on one side of the house and an L14-30 on the other. I told them to go ahead and get 2 electric cars that homes electrical system can handle it.
