The funny thing about the Pacifica Hybrid is it uses the same gas engine as the non-hybrid, which is rated only 28 mpg highway! If you can live with the smaller RAV4, that might make more sense in this case--although otherwise, I would lean toward a minivan for the extra room inside too.
ETA: The Pacifica also starts at $12,000 more than the RAV4....
