I second that. The best heat is heat that never touches your car body. thus you eliminate heat transfer by radiation and convection.
when parking In the summer I use exterior solar shade on windscreen, interior solar shades on side and rear windows (too much fuss to put them from outside, but I tried anyway. magnets, suction cups, close in door frame. ) and improvised tropical roof made from emergency blanket clipped to roof rails. Installlation takes about three minutes but makes significant difference when the car stays in the sun.
(well, only on trips outside town as my wife does not like to "have a car that looks like some screwed NASA contraption" on places where people recognize us.
