Many old 2wd t-cases were 2:1 reduction
Run in reverse would be very noisy
Better to run them as designed in front of a very high rearend ratio like 2.8 or even 2.5
Then you will gain 5 useable gears, just make sure the t-case is the type you can upshift while rolling
