I was in the business of arbitrage back when I had extra time and deal finding was less well known. I'd often see something on SlickDeals well below the going price on Ebay, purchase a bunch of that item, hang on to one of them to play with, and sell the rest for profit.

There was a guy buying welding masks at Harbor Freight and selling them on Ebay for profit. Then he got in touch with the Harbor Freight distributor in China and made bulk orders directly through them and kept even more of the profit. His fraternity dedicated a whole room to his operation.

I've had a Paypal account since 2000, when I was a high school senior.
