Thanks! I'm so honored! I don't know what I'll do with such an extraordinary prize. Perhaps I'll save it as my desktop background...

My goal was to get our 90-day average up over 90 this summer. Last summer it was 88. I've still got a month or two of hot weather left this year, but I'm not sure I'll get there.

It would be easier if I was one of those guys who drove the same commute to work every day and that was it. But instead, my job requires me to travel as needed all over the state of Virginia (the company I work for has 20+ offices around the state), and we use this car as our "family car" for our family of four. We run errands with it, go to church events, pick up chicken feed, and even occasionally strap a canoe to the roof or pull a trailer with it. In fact, it should be pointed out that a significant number of the miles on almost every tank are from my wife driving. She's a great hypermiler herself.

To me, that's the real challenge of hypermiling--not just getting an outstanding tank every once in a while, but developing consistently efficient driving despite varying conditions, terrain, and cargo/passengers.
