Ask your teenager (or just about anyone for that matter)...
How is electricity used to propel a vehicle?
Somehow, I don't think the only, or even the typical answer will be:
"A battery with a motor/generator"

PS...closer the the legislated definition:
"How are both electricity and gasoline used to propel a vehicle?"
