I do believe you're the only one that has mentioned explosion and hydrogen in this thread.

I don't know why there's unburned hydrogen at the pad, but my guess is because the small molecule is difficult to contain, and hydrogen tanks must boil off to keep the temperature down low enough to remain a liquid. Perhaps there could be a delay in mixing the gasses too, which might initially have H2 coming from the engine before it has mixed with O2.
