I have been meaning to do something similar.
BUT BE AWARE!
These new diesels have a small quantity of diesel pre injected to smoothe out the « diesel feeling » of these new generation engines.
If you have a combustible gas, it will start burning! This is before TDC and will have negative effects on your engine!
You can investigate when there is no pre injection (higher rpms) or have it tuned out.
