millenniumtree: DPFI 4spd Feedback

Hey all... I'm a newbie that mainly goes on gassavers.org and but I mainly wanted to explore ecomodder since there's not a lot of OBD0 DPFI Love out there for my civic. And that's when I came across Millenniumtree who has the same car as me! I wanted to write him a PM but why keep it to PM's when the whole community can share and view this too. So here's what I wrote to him while I wait for his response.

millenniumtree... 51MPG on an STD? Amazing! You're an inspiration. I'm currently averaging about 43mpg and can't seem to get over that hump. I'd like to stick to the 4spd as well as not converting to MPFI.

I have an 1990 and was wonder if you can critique my driving techniques.

Acceleration
Extremely light footed. I'll shift 1st to 2nd @ 1500-1750 rpm (~9mph), 2nd-3rd @2000-2250 rpms (~21-24mph), 3rd-4th @ 2000-2500 rpms (~32-40mph). All this is depending upon if I'm going downhill (shift sooner) or uphill (Shift higher).

Pulse & Glide on the Highway
On gradual uphill grades I'll cruise at about 50-55 mph and attempt to accelerate with the goal of hitting 65 mph at the crest of the hill. Then on the flat or gradual downhill grades I'll glide down to 50 mph. On flat surfaces I'll P&G from 65-50mph without exception.

Here's the questions I have...
1. When "pulsing" up to 65 I'll pulse on the uphill grade to the crest of the hill. Do you think I should pulse after the crest of the hill on the flat or downhill grade instead?

2. When "pulsing" I'll give the car about 50% throttle. Think I should give it more or less throttle?

3. Do you ever skip gears? Heavier throttle 2nd... right into 4th gear?
