The point with mining equipment is that while the loads are huge, speed and distances are not. So the total amount of power needed is not that big. Drivetrains are already electric and the power is provided by on-board generators that could easily be replaced by batteries, that only have to be recharged at night.

There ain't no such thing as a free lunch, but this gets as close to freeloading as possible. That thing there is much greener than meets the eye.
