That duct must dump into a disaster zone if it needs turbulent flow delivered. Dimples are wonderful on golf balls, but if your shape is not rotating, a simple thin ring about 35% back is all you need, and if you have anything much gentler than a round shape, you don't need turbulence to keep the flow attached.
Home-built instrumentation can be tricky, especially if there are expectations. I once built a manometer, and could not get anything close to an accurate reading, even on such a simple device.
