In many ways we've got more advanced technology than science fiction imagined, and nobody is impressed. Cell phones are way more feature packed than Star Trek communicators. Smart watches are way more capable than the Dick Tracy watch. Doors do open and close for people... at supermarkets. We can talk to computers and give them commands. Our screens are flat and thin, and can display buttons that are relevant rather than dedicating mechanical buttons to a single function.
