How do cold air intakes work?

Shouty made a video saying that CAIs do nothing unless you retune the computer. Someone commented that CAIs still do not do anything, it is the tune. I just wanted to share another comment:

Hi, I'm a retired carbon fiber tech. and what you are saying is that you pull air from a cold location (that's probably 110f). then you filter it through a filter that is 200f. then you send it through a tube that is 200f. then you run it through a manifold that is 200f. then you squeeze it through ports that are 200f. and it arrives in the combustion chamber cold. Is this correct? I'm just asking for a friend
What does being a retired carbon fiber tech have to do with anything?

By the way, did you know that the Suzuki Swift was sold after the Metro died?

Uh... kind of. It was the Swift+, a rebadged Aveo.

I would prefer they just continued the Metro without changing anything.
