I actually don't know it can't be more than 10 amps.
But this time I am going to extend the wires and put my DC amp clamp on it.
For protection I am going to install a 3 amp diode in reverse bias across the + and -, an MOV and maybe a 12v light bulb.
The 12v light bulb will do 3 things. It it will let me know the 12v is functional, will be like a charge bleed resistor to help smooth voltage on inductive loads and it will let me know if there are any 12v spikes indicated by it getting brighter for a split second.
