Both Tesla and Arcimoto use flat sheet, cut and folded, for their structure. Arcimoto use tubing for their 'upper frame' aka 'cage' and that's giving them problems with hanging doors, etc.
I've suggested to them a low-poly teardrop monocoque but they are busy enough at the moment.
