It's working now.
I found a little nut plate that doesn't appear to belong to this rig inside the problem modular power inverter. I took the module out and heard something move around inside it and shook free a little square nut plate.
Put it back in and it works fine.
Some how that nut caused a non catastrophic fault that shut it down and doesn't appear to have caused any damage.
That could have gone so bad so fast.
Some how I avoided disaster.
Maybe that's what shorted out my 12v power supply. The little nut plate is to large to fall inside through the air cooling holes.
