As was pointed out in the thread, those max payloads are for stripper models (fully loaded versions generally have a laughable payload), Tesla don't sell a stripper model.
Yes, imagine making a light duty truck with so much payload and towing that it gets bumped into the medium duty class. I don't really see the fail. American pick ups have giant V8's, that require giant running gear, that result in pathetic payloads. Not hard to see how Tesla would trump them. My 1.6 litre van has a 2640lbs payload, the F-150 maxes out at 2311lbs LOL. My Prius sized ute can carry 1166lbs, which knocks on the door of the massive 150's 1485lbs in it's 'luxury' spec.
My Van's curb weight is the same as a Class 1 Ford Ranger, but it's superior payload would put it in the 2a Class with the F150. Same thing with the Cybertruck, superior specs put it into the next class.

Radar cruise on the Ford is a $7k option package - autopilot is standard - that sort of thing needs to be considered when arguing price. A Corolla has a better payload, towing and range than a Porsche at a cheaper price. You could spend a bunch on money on improving a Corolla, but it will never be a Porsche. You could spend billions of dollars on your ICE truck developing not yet existing technologies to match the performance and economy of a CT, or you could just pay a few grand more and buy the CT. Bargain.
