Another thing which surprises people is that despite the lack of reliability a used Jeep, particularly the Rubicon trim level depreciates very little.
I would argue that the "Mall Crawler" crowd is the second largest, at least in my region.
I guess I am an oddity, my Jeep gets slightly better fuel economy than stock, and a case of rock rash... even on the roof. I considered the Jeep Gladiator but reliability was an issue.
