I used to own an '03 Crown Vic that I bought new and ran for 10 years until my wife demanded an SUV so it was replaced with an Explorer.

That ole Crown Vic required nothing but renewed tires and batteries, and the smooth 4.6 V8 was the most efficient engine of that ilk I've ever owned. I remember averaging around 30mpg at 55mph on the highway without any more effort at achieving good fuel economy but the speed setting on cruise control.

I'd still own that car, but marital bliss is comprised of a series of compromises. The Explorer was one of mine.
