The signature line is a joke, of course. It is impossible that all lines would be equally long all the time, so there often will be one longer than the rest, and therefore it has more people. Now let's just suppose people chose that line because they prefer long lines...
It just goes to show that a majority decision isn't always the best, or means anything for that matter.
I use to joke that wherever I go, on average it will be busier than average. Same kind of thing, an unavoidable but meaningless truth.
