But you can do a lot with tire cross sections. My Superbeetle has stock 165-15 on the front and 165/50-15 on the front.
Cal Look uses 145 in front (similar to lowriders) and 165s in back. The 165/50 has much more contact patch. Adds about 2 1/2" drop. (The trick to a hot VW is stock engine and undersized front tires. It's good for +10-12% more top end.
