As I've mentioned elsewhere, if batteries can get twice as good as they are now, ICE will begin to get a run for their money. By twice as good, I mean either the same performance for half the price, or twice the value for the same price.

The need of batteries to have environmental controls is a big negative against them compared to gasoline. Gasoline just needs vapor recovery, and that's only to reduce pollution, not because the vehicle relies on it to function.
