Tesla fans are not talking about lighting, they are talking about using lasers to clean the windshield and then not use windshield wipers. Lasers powerful enough to vaporize dead bugs and I assume convert water drops to steam on a massive scale in a rainstorm which is the real reason you need wipers, not for a few bugs.
