I met Dave once. He was using a styrofoam male mold for some fiberglass work, perhaps a wheel well. Everybody knew that you had to use expensive epoxy resin to avoid melting the styrofoam, but Dave had found that a layer of masking tape would protect it sufficiently for polyester.
