Assembled the Iduino(s) today, hooked up the display and tried to upload the software.

The display is not showing anything. (It will show a line of full squares, then cycle off.) I have checked the wiring, connections and the code for the LCD control. I am using the GDM1602k from sparkfun.

The IO light is flashing nicely. so I know that the program is running. Do you need to not have that on?

EDIT:
I removed the LED, still no luck. I have it compiled with debug, and it does print the "OpenGauge MPGuino online" message to the serial port. but still nothing coherent on the screen. Full squares, horizontal lines on the top row. nothing more.
