I know this is an old thread, but I like the idea. It would make a noticeable difference for people with older CRT monitors. For those of us with LCD screens or other efficient screens, it may not make a big difference, but as in EcoModding, and hypermiling, it can be a bad idea to overlook the small things, as they will all add up to a greater amount.
I was actually somewhat saddened when I noticed the only skins available are the white one, and the "mobile" one. I usually use my computer at night (off-peak power hours
) and have a dark background, black windows and Firefox theme, and have the brightness set as low as it will go. I don't like having bright screens glaring at me in a dark room
I was thinking at least offering a skin for EM.com that has dark backgrounds, and fairly dark text for those of us trying to save some energy to have an option. Especially since you guys just started the EcoRenovator site, and this would tie into saving energy at home
