Then there's the fact that they are difficult to breath through. I couldn't imagine wearing one 8 hours a day, 5 days per week.
I've been wearing a surgical mask when I go in public because it's easy to put on and easier to breath through. It accomplishes the goal of keeping water droplets from spewing.

I prefer the non valve ones. I think the condensation from my breath helps trap dust particles.
