60% charge probably means you sulphated the plates somewhat. Heavy mechanical vibration might loosen the sulphate and allow it to fall down to the bottom of the battery but at some capacity loss.

Charging voltage and current loss can be measured by any cheap modern digital voltmeter. In seres with the battery for current and not more than 200 ma, across the two terminals for charge. You need to see at least 13 and max 15.6 volts for charge
