How many months without buying gas do you normally go? As someone commented to MetroMPG, how many gallons per month do you burn?
I drive the Volt 38 miles a day and charge it for free at work, and I normally only put it in hold mode (which fires up the ICE) for half of a commute at least once a month just to keep the engine fluids circulated.

That's the only gas I burn normally, so other than when I can't plug in like this week I burn less than half a gallon a month

Between both of my Volts over the last 4 years I've only gone to the gas station 5 or 6 times.
