My car is almost out of warranty, and 75% of what has broken on my car has been DIRECTLY caused by Tesla service doing warranty work, so if at all possible it will never go back to Tesla service. Hitch isn't Tesla in any way other than fitting. Shouldn't be an issue towing, plenty of power and more brakes than most full size pickups. I've had 1,500 lbs internal payload before and it wasn't noticeable except in consumption and wide open throttle performance. I'm not planning on going far at all, so I can't imagine heat being an issue. I may also drag a boat the 1.5 miles to the launch.
