I'm not really building the TR7 for mileage. It's more of a go fast fun car. I still want decent mileage on the highway. If I can get high 20's I'd be happy for having a V8. I'm hoping that with the lighter weight and lower stock profile (about 50") and tall gearing I'll do better than that. 26 mpg/highway would be a 360 mile tank. Almost 5 hours on the interstate. I just didn't want a super high hp build and only high teens for mpg.
Thought about a GM LTG 2.0T but not sure it will fit under the hood. Supposedly 27"-28" tall. Not a lot of vertical clearance. I have heard that a 1UZ-FE Toyota/Lexus fits and it's supposedly 27" tall. The L33 is definitely shorter by nearly 3". I'm not unhappy with the L33 choice.
