I wonder how you change the oil in that system with the oil cooler run all the way up front. There's got to be a lot of oil in those lines and in the cooler. And if you got it all drained out, you wouldn't want to start it to pump that system all full again before you get lubrication?

I suspect that fresh oil was introduced while the engine was running, and oil pump was evacuating out the old oil.
A friend's mother's Toyota Corola's radiator breached internally, allowing coolant to contaminate the automatic transmission fluid, via the built-in cooler.
After $ 220 for a new radiator, I intercepted the transmission coolant lines, such that I could add in new fluid, while the torque converter pumped out what looked like strawberry milkshake, until the fluid finally ran clear.
Motor oil will cling to engine parts for years, maintaining hydrodynamic lubrication, even in a 'dry' engine, which hasn't turned over for the duration. It's impressive!
