If the price and specs are anything like predicted this is likely the replacement for my Sportwagen TDI in 3-4 years.

The July, 2020 MOTOR TREND had a tiny article on this SUV. They 'talk' of a ' Top-end' version, with close to 300-miles range. Estimated price is $ 35,000 US, however, they don't specify if this is a 'base' price, or high end price.
There is a base, single-motor. GTX version with two motors, AWD, and more performance. Top-end model has the near-300-miles. The ID4 is the size of Tiguan, but with more interior space.
A 2012 Tiguan SE could fetch $ 31,345.
2019 BOLT LT base is $ 36,620.
2019, high-end LEAF, base, $36,200.
2019 Kia NIRO EV EX Premier, $ 43,475.
2019 Tesla Model 3 Std range Plus, $ 40,690.
2019 Hyundai Kona EV, $ 46,630.
VW's Audi E-tron is getting upgrades for range efficiency, perhaps the ID4 will enjoy these technologies as well.
