EDIT: They did put manuals in HHR, but 30 mpg HWY is quite a bit behind the Cobalt XFE 37 hwy. 09-10 HHR's had 3 engine options, 2.2, 2.4 & 2.0 turbo.
I can promise you the mileage is pretty terrible in an HHR. I like them, but don’t expect much better than EPA. 27ish was all I could muster in a rental I had for my wedding in Florida between Orlando and Cocoa Beach. It was an auto, or course, but shouldn’t matter much on the highway. It was probably also hurt by the fact that it was brand spanking new: I still remember 7 miles on the odometer when we picked it up.

Still kinda cool cars though. I tried to pick one up last time I was car shopping, but oh boy was it a dud.
