Yea the ND has a Skyactiv-G, 2.0L in the US, 1.5L elsewhere. I drove a 2016 once, and it was a fantastic car! Much more rigid than earlier models, great ergonomics and build quality, and pretty quick (if you put aftermarket cams on and give it a tune, it produces over 210hp making it "properly quick"). It's definitely not comfortable for taller people though, which is why I sadly can't buy one.

The Skyactiv is missing external cooled EGR so it's "only" 39% peak efficiency but I reckon the BP is something like 32. If you swapped the 1.5 from a Mazda 2 onto the Miata and drove very slowly, it would do very well.

The aerodynamics are, of course, still terrible, so something would need to be done about that before your mpg can start to rival an Insight.
