I'm fully aware of the significance of wetted area in connection to airfoils, and solar, or SAE Eco Marathon racers, based upon airfoils. However, since
wetted area is a consideration only for wing-derived vehicles, it's not germane to production passenger cars. Fully-attached flow is presumed for 'wing' cars, on account of the terrific fineness ratios these bodies possess.
Road vehicles on the other hand are typically 'bluff-bodies', of which drag is ruled by separation. It's the reason we streamline.
Airfoil-derived passenger cars would be a fail, on account of scaling issues. They're worthless except for on a closed course, or protected from real vehicles by escort vehicles, as with the World Solar Challenge, or North American Solar Challenge.
You don't see Hucho advocating for them, although he does advocate for the 'template.' Get your facts straight!
