You're going very far out of your way to misinterpret him. The next day he clarified that he had been referring to the disinfectant used on hands and said he had sarcastically asked about using it "on the inside" to get a rise out of the reporters. He went out of his way to show that he wasn't talking about lights the whole time. Not as far as you're going to claim he was, but his word is more believable in this instance.
