cooling with capacitors

Science Magazine Oct 2, 2020 issue has 2 articles about new research on

electrocaloric cooling using lead scandium tantalate capacitors that change temperature under an electric field.

The test prototype achieves a coefficient of performance (COP) of 15.5%, as good as current thermo-electric coolers. With planned improvements a COP of 42% to 56% is possible.
But still not competitive with vapor compression refrigeration.
