What is the most fuel-efficient pickup?
I asked Google and it listed brand-new behemoths that get worse economy than my Accord. It looks like the most efficient truck ever is a Volkswagen as old as I am and selling for $9,000.
What is the ROI on 45 MPG?
It looks like the second-best is the 1996-1998 Toyota [Hilux] truck, which is rated 20/27 or something.
It was available earlier, but I want OBD-II.
I believe at that point Toyota replaced it with something bigger and stronger.
At this point I am just curious. It had seemed like I only needed a truck twice a year, so getting 30+ MPG in my Honda and renting something every six months seemed like the obvious choice, but I rented a truck a few weeks ago for ramp materials, a van on Monday to buy a partially-assembled loft bed, and now I am waiting to get rid of some stuff at the dump.
I doubt that replacing a car with a truck makes sense, but I was curious.
