A couple of years ago someone over here died in similar fashion, complaining of not being able to breathe with a cop kneeling on his neck. Though he too had used some drugs, the cause of death was oxygen starvation to the brain caused by blocking the arteries in his neck.

We used to be proud of our healthcare system, but rising costs and commercialization have gradually made it less accessible for the less fortunate. So we see an increase of incidents with people who are in the street without proper care or drugs, causing all kinds of trouble, and an already overworked police force having to deal with that.

Use of firearms always gets scrutinized over here so there are hardly any cases of overkill, as the officers know every shot will be analyzed. Yet of course it doesn't always end well.

It isn't predominantly the fault of the police officers, nor their victims. The responsibility lies with the government and the society that put it in its place; a world that does not care enough to do the right thing.
