One of the videos that came up after watching the video Freebeard posted is about air and vacuums. They start with thunder, lightning and natural weather.

It's all supposed to end up explaining a transmission.

Vacuum Control (1938) Chevrolet Gearshift

Quote:
AN EXPLANATION OF THE PRINCIPLE OF THE NEW VACUUM GEARSHIFT, AND HOW IT CONTRIBUTES TO COMFORT, EASE OF DRIVING, & SAFETY.
An even better video, at the 1:15 mark is a simple device used to examining eddies and vortexes - something smoke really doesn't do well in my opinion.

Taking the Air (1941) NCAC

Quote:
Studies In Streamlining From The Days Of Horatio Phillips To Modern Times. Evolution Of Automobile From Its Beginning To Present Streamlined Shape Is Exemplified In The 1941 Chevrolet.
This movie is part of the collection: Prelinger Archives
Producer: Handy (Jam) Organization
Sponsor: Chevrolet Division, General Motors Corporation
Audio/Visual: sound, color
At the 4:20 mark, note PT-9's twin Perspex bubble gun turrets - COOOOOL!
