For the best spark at the plug, carbon core wires seem to work for suppression as well as making the most spark when fine wire is wrapped around the core. When doing my research I looked at numerous articles from various sources, so I am not sure which stated the wire wrapped carbon core was best. I am sure that was the conclusion of several companies like ACCEL, MSD, and Packard. It also showed simple testing of resistance with a multi-meter was not a good way because the small voltage in the meter was nowhere near the voltages the wire would be required to handle. Naturally the biggest spark necessary to burn the mixture as completely as possible, is the goal, but if 5K will ignite it a 50K spark is a waste. The old Kettering system worked very well in V8's up to about 5000 RPM, but the 4-cylinder has only half as many sparks, allowing a longer build up of coil energy. Looking at MSD's graph it does not start until 3500 RPM, and my 4-cylinder will be doing 80 MPH by then, or close to that.
