Well that's a complicated question. For my purposes, having an EV and a gasoline car both, in a family of 2, makes perfect sense. For my wife's short work commute and any around-town driving, we pay $0.03/mi in electricity. Can't beat it.

But if we have to drive more than ~75 miles in a day, it makes sense to take my wife's car, which is a 2015 Honda Fit that gets about 40 MPG.

I bought my '17 Leaf for about $11,500 after used EV incentives and selling my 44 MPG Toyota Yaris to my dad for $2,000.

There's a whole other can of worms with where batteries come from, where cars are manufactured before shipping, and environmental impacts, that I don't feel like getting into.

For a grocery-getter, I don't think you can beat a cheap EV. They're amazing.

My next EV will certainly be something with much longer range, though that seems to be the way things are going anyway.

Welcome to the forums!
