In 1994 I bought my one and only new vehicle because as Charlie said, at that time that style was in demand such that new wasn't much of a price premium over used. That, and having a new car was on my bucket list, just to experience that. Because with that sole exception, I've always been an automotive bottom-feeder, getting dirt cheap or even free cars that the owners have given up on or just want to be rid of. I do all my own mechanic work so I have saved buckets of money over the years, I'm sure. I still have that "new" one which is now a rusted out POS like any beater I could get these days for cheap, but at least I got that "new car bug" out of my system.. for good.
