The problem I have with the Aveo is not only the mileage, but also the cost of the parts conveniently available only at the dealer. I vividly remember having to pay 60$ for a wheel cylinder, give me a break. No need to say I replaced it myself, I can't imagine what the service bill would have been.
The mileage in the case of our 2004 Aveo was abysmal for a 1.6, more or less 25 mpg in the city. Roughly the equivalent of our Elantra if not driven with FE in mind, but the Elantra is a much bigger and heavier car with a 2.0.
I really hope GM will be able to come up with an efficient powertrain for this car, cause our hatchback Aveo was a nice looking and overall practical little car imho. We even slept in it once, and I'm 6'3"...
